Double car loads day

We woke up early on Sunday and realized how much we had left to haul. Luckily it was all little stuff that would fit in our cars. We did have a boat load of clothes and computers still to take. We scrounged up some breakfast and then loaded both of the cars to the gills.

By noon we were on the road for the house and by 2 o'clock we had unloaded. It was at this point that Amanda got called in so I had to decide what exactly to do. I decided it was time to try out the carpet cleaner if we were really going to spend the night there.

Amanda and I had purchased the oxygen bleach based cleaning fluid after reading the wondrous reviews it got on the Internet. It did recommend adding hot water to the tank however so the microwave and I got friendly in the absence of hot water. After I got the tank filled and mixed adequately it dawned on me maybe I should read the directions for the steamvac first. Glad I did I learned that you can set it to shopvac mode after you brush on the shampoo that way you don't get the water left over. So I made a pass in the bedroom and realized that the carpets are not brown they are what Amanda calls "rose" its a tint of red that I would generally call pink if it was a bit purer. After revealing the rose carpet with the wet mode I made about 4 passes over the carpet with the machine in shop vac mode. The awful and disgusting colored water that filled the vac tank was dirtier than I have ever seen motor oil look. I expected like mid grayish brown with a side of puke, but this was straight up black opaque awful looking water. I got the room done and called Amanda who said she was about the head out for the apartment so before I could continue to attack the house with the steamvac I had to head out. Before I went though I opened the window in the bedroom and turned on my new favorite house vent fan to suck out even more of the dampness.

I got the apartment by 6 and loaded the car down, still no sign of Amanda... I packed up as much of the random bits still scattered as I could and then started patching the drywall holes and tears we had invariably caused...still no Amanda. I went back out to my car and wiggled things around so I could fit even more into the back seat. Finally Amanda called and said that they had needed her and she was picking up French Dips on the way home.

We ate french dips on the floor using the ironing board as a table and then took down the curtains loaded her car and headed for the house at 9. The apartment had an eerily empty feeling to it aside from the chair and the ironing board that we will have to go back for.

When we got to the house Amanda was amazed at how the carpet looked in the bedroom and also how dry it was. I tried to act like I knew it was going to work and she should never have doubted me. I'll be honest though when I was assembling that stack of plasticy parts I was convinced we got hosed. We got the bed setup and brought in some lamps so the place actually looks like a livable room.

We realized the next day was going to suck with the ice-cold showers or hooker showers if you will.

The next morning we had to take these awful showers. Nothing can mentally prepare you for the onslaught of awfulness that is the morning shower in ice cold water. After one of these Amanda came into the bedroom and said, "We have to have a water heater today...not tommorow...today..." I realized I know had a task for the day.

Finding a water heater itself isnt that difficult but finding a plumber now that is a trick. By noon we found a plumber and tommorow I'll tell you if they were any good. We also oredered Verizon Fios install for Wednesday. I should also add that I got a shot to steamvac the carpet in the room Lexer is going to be staying in so she won't have to be afraid of the floor, the walls are another matter though....
