The new/Old House

So yesterday we started this crazy endeavor. We signed all the papers that are to hold us to this property for the next 30 years. I can't stress how lucky we were to have awesome people working with us for the process. Our realtor and lender were both phenomenal and helped us get through this process with as little goofiness as possible. We even managed to get in on the tax credit that made this whole thing seem worth while.
After signing the papers we took the locks we picked up at Home Depot and put them on the front door. The knob went in fine however it seems the hole for the dead-bolt was cut funky so getting the deadbolt in proved to be a pain. I was mid-way through swearing at the deabolt when the neighbors came over to say hello and drop off keys they had to the house. They told us about the previous owner and how he was quadraplegic. It made perfect sense considering the bathroom that had been retrofit on the main level and the general state of repair of the home.
While I finished up the dead-bolt Amanda went about cleaning up the place, she was still in her work clothes so didn't want to dig into the heavy stuff just yet but it really is amazing what a broom can do to a neglected floor. I am as always in awe at her dedication.
After the entire ordeal neither of us went back to work and we stopped at Chilli's for some much deserved food and beverages. It seems to have become one of our usual haunts next-door to South of the Border. It was really pleasant to just sit and enjoy the brief moments of joy in a home purchase before the inevitable tidal wave of work and swear words. Though I have promised to keep my swearing to a minimum.
We did make it home in time to see House the TV show. Easily one of the strangest episodes ever. Then off to bed so we could actually wake up the next day.
